Concept Surgeon Top 10 | #8 Andrew James
Again, in no particular order, we take a look at our top 10 submissions from our Concept Surgeon competition with Dominic Chambrone, aka The Shoe Surgeon. This entry being by the super talented, Andrew James. A sleek concept with clever uses of material, the concept beautifully embodied both Hender Scheme as well as ACRONYM’s and adidas’ design DNA.
“The upper is all leather. In the forefoot, one piece of Hender Scheme’s signature Vachetta natural leather folds onto itself and is strapped down, allowing adjustability. Three leather stripes loop at the top to lock down the bungee lace system. Around the ankle, in a modern, Acronym twist, apparition, transparent leather is used. You can see the ankle band that is exposed for half of its circumference and then seen through the transparent leather for the other half for support. Futuristic functionality meets traditional shoemaking, just as the brands
involved.” – Andrew
